About

Hello and thanks for dropping in. This is my personal blog - but I am a full-time business writer and editor, with extensive experience of the way technology is used and adopted by chief information officers (CIOs) at blue chip organisations. My experience has been gained through senior editorships, investigative journalism and postgraduate research.

I am editor at CIO Connect, the magazine of the leading forum for top IT executives. The role allows me to build contacts with technology gurus, top academics and business experts. As well as running the magazine, I manage CIO Connect’s broader editorial strategy and edit regular research reports that address key business issues for IT leaders.

Prior to working at CIO Connect, I was features editor at IT weekly Computing and editor of technology monthly Computing Business. I also used to write a daily blog called The Knowledge.

I have written freelance pieces for a series of newspapers and organisations, including the Times Higher Education Supplement, the Economist Intelligence Unit and Inform.

Before entering journalism, I completed a PhD in economic geography and my dissertation analysed the impact of IT in retail labour markets. I have also completed a masters in economic geography, a postgraduate certificate in social science research methods and a degree in geography.
